WEST BOYLSTON, MA U.S.A. (August 10, 2009) – Today, four industry-leading experts including EMUGE Corp. (cutting tools), HERMLE Machine Co. (5-axis machining), Concepts NREC (CAM software), and M&H Probing Systems (inspection) have announced that they will jointly host a complimentary one-day intensive machining seminar on October 15th, 2009.  The seminar will reveal new ways to significantly boost productivity, material removal rates, and optimize tooling when machining complex bladed components such as impellers, blisks, rotors, and compressors.  The event will take place at Emuge Corp.’s state-of-the-art Technology Center in West Boylston, Massachusetts.

Attendees will witness firsthand how integrating the industry’s leading machining centers, end mills, software and probing systems when applied with the latest techniques, can significantly improve material removal and tool life/ optimization.  In addition, easier programming, tool path planning, and proper tool selection provides better transitions from roughing to finish and minimal tool breakage.  When combined, these techniques can produce unprecedented productivity gains, superb surface finishes and increased accuracies, all while reducing costs and improving product quality.

New Machining Strategies Seminar

The seminar will include live machining of challenging bladed components on a HERMLE C 30 U 5-axis machining center along with classroom time and technical presentations.  The event will highlight three different milling applications including a complex turbo compressor, impeller, and blisk, in a highly automated machine and MAX-PACTM CAM Software platform. This integrated approach produces significantly faster stock removal rates, reduced tool expense, improved transitions, increased control and accuracy from roughing to finish.  On-machine spindle probing inspection will also demonstrate how users can save time, optimize tool life, ensure accuracy, and reduce scrap.

New Machining Strategies Seminar

Attendees will see the entire process from  the setting up of components, the ease of planning tool paths/ programming, machining and inspection, and also learn better strategies for more accurate flank milling, proper tool selection for smooth transitions and dramatically reduced tool costs.

Representatives from the four companies issued a joint statement saying, “This event is a must-see for manufacturing professionals in the demanding turbomachinery, power generation, aerospace, and other industries where complex bladed components present intense lead time, cost and quality challenges.”

Technical representatives from each company will be in attendance to answer any questions about products, technology and processes and how they interact to produce predictable and more efficient machining.  CNC machinists, CNC programmers, Manufacturing Engineers and Operations personnel are encouraged to attend the event.

The seminar is open to manufacturing professionals free of charge, and will begin at 9:00AM with light refreshments. Lunch will also be served and a prize raffle will be held at the close of the event at 3:30PM.  Early registration is recommended.  To register for the event, visit www.emuge.com  or call 800-323-3013.
