MoSys is a modular system consisting of standardized components:

A. Holder with shank
(CAT40, CAT50, HSK63, etc.)
B. Spacer, or distance ring.
C. Carbide cutting head, for counter-boring, or stepped countersinking
D. Thread milling (or Thriller) cutter

Emuge stocks these items in semifinished condition, making it possible for us to grind the contour and if necessary, modify the holder within just 4-6weeks.

This is where MoSys shines: For example, using MoSys and an Emuge Thriller when short-chipping cast aluminum or cast iron, will make it possible for you to perform the complete threading job in one operation.

MoSys Will:

Drill the core hole and counter-sink the hole in an axial forward movement.
Counterbore the workpiece or put in a stepped countersinking contour according to your special requirements.
Finish the thread by a normal thread milling interpolation.

Simple Solutions for Tough Applications

Cutting 90 degree angles

If you require sealing or hydraulic threads in your workpiece, the perpendicular, or 90° angle, between the thread axis and the hole face or counterbore surface is of prime importance. With MoSys, its easy to achieve a perfect 90° angle every time.

Benefits over inserts

When using carbide inserts, space limitations make it difficult to properly fix the inserts on the holder. Also, cutting forces often make positioning of the inserts for countersinking or boring a challenge. In addition, there are restrictions to the use of inserts in modern CNC machines that have demanding cutting speeds and feeds. In comparison, Emuge Solid Carbide Cutting Heads mounted on MoSys and clamped very rigidly, will yield an extremely high degree of precision and performance.

Smart Design and Construction

Emuge Cutting Heads have four holes for positioning them radially to the flutes of the thread milling cutters in 12 different 30° steps. This permits efficient chip removal from tool and part. Plus, if a cutting edge breaks, the valuable mono-block tool remains intact.

Manufacturing Versatility

Convenience is a major factor in the MoSys design. Whenever you need a different stepped countersinking arrangement, you simply apply a new carbide cutting head, while the rest of the system is ready to work again. This is also true of change in the construction of connections, in counterboring and countersinking diameters etc. MoSys will adjust to all these changes with an unprecedented degree of flexibility.
