EMUGE SELF-LOCK Taps provide a special self-locking internal thread form. The locking effect is achieved by a unique wedge ramp integrated in the female thread. When clamp load is applied, the crests of the male thread are wedged tightly against the ramp angle of the female thread. This creates a continuous spiral contact along the entire length of thread engagement. This makes transverse movement of the bolt impossible, which prevents the lessening of flanc friction. SELF-LOCK threads mate with standard bolts manufactured within Class 2 fit tolerance without the need for costly and ineffective inserts or epoxy coatings. Special benefits include:

Pitch Requirements. For pitch less than or equal to 0.7 mm (P ≤ 0.7 mm), EMUGE produces a special modified SELF-LOCK profile, the sawtooth profile.

Gauging. Special thread gauges are available for the SELF-LOCK Tap.

Design. BT-Type is for normal thread connections and assumes entry of the bolt from the same direction that the tap has entered.
