Coating Department Supervisor

Job Description:

The Coating Department Supervisor reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and is responsible for managing and executing the Coating Departments day-to-day tasks. The Coating Department Supervisor must demonstrate the ability to understand the complex and evolving manufacturing processes of coating carbide cutting tools develop standard procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily changeover maintenance of pre/post coating equipment
  • Optimize the use of production equipment and identify shift priorities to maintain daily production goals
  • Develop and implement standard department procedures
  • Visually inspect parts and work with management to identify and address quality concerns
  • Customer part handling including sorting, cleaning, loading and unloading
  • Preform monthly and yearly, routine and preventive maintenance on coating and peripheral equipment ensure quality coatings
  • Troubleshooting of potential machine failures
  • Be able to operate all primary and secondary operations prior to and after coating process.
  • Process all orders according to the Travelling Card
  • Able to prepare PVD the coating system, load and unload the chamber change and input process parameters in the operator screen

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; college or technical degree preferred
  • Logical problem-solving and advanced math skills
  • High mechanical aptitude and ability to carry out detailed work instructions
  • Lifting to 50 pounds for a brief time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 3-5 years’ experience in PVD coating preferred
  • Microsoft Office experience helpful
  • Motivated and creative self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Appropriated technical knowledge of production processes and basic machine shop skills preferred
  • Willingness to work with a team
