The Rekord Skip Tooth style pipe tap is designed especially for short-chipping material where chip packing is an issue. A skip tooth tap with “alternating teeth”, can reduced flank friction and heat build-up. Coolant-lubricant can flow freely between the cutting teeth and threaded part for a more efficient threading action. This is particularly effective with straight flute styles where there is practically no chip transport in an axial direction. An increased profile relief angle reduces friction and with it, the possibility of cold welding.
