SELF-LOCK is an ideal screw connection for high-stress situations with a unique preload locking internal (female) thread form that's exceptionally resistant to transverse vibration—the primary cause of thread loosening. In cases where there is a standard external thread in an EMUGE SELF-LOCK internal thread, the internal thread yields a self-locking screw connection that can be used repeatedly. The special profile of the SELF-LOCK thread allows an even distribution of stress over the entire thread length and therefore eliminates slippage. SELF-LOCK is ideally suited for threaded part applications subjected to heavy shock and vibration, extreme temperatures, long hours of strenuous operation, and millions of loading cycles without the opportunity for retightening. SELF-LOCK  threaded holes and nuts accept standard male fasteners and eliminate the need for other locking devices, and substantially reduce the potential for fatigue failure when compared to standard threads.
